It’s a new year and a new you….or so they say, but let’s face it, that change won’t happen without a little hard work. Lucky for you, we have some great tips to help you crush your new year’s workout goal, and put you on the path to being the best version of yourself.
Maybe you are great at winging it most of the time, but save that for other areas of your life. Writing out your workout goals for the week in a calendar, with scheduled times and days will help you stay on track and be accountable to yourself. Include details on what type of workout you will do, how long for and what time of day.
Trainers always tell you to wake up early and get your workout done in the morning, which isn’t a bad idea. A morning workout can be energizing and a great way to start the day, but it’s not the only option. What happens on all those days you accidentally hit snooze too many times? Let’s face it, it happens to us all. Starting off with a new routine, it’s important to remember that missing your morning time slot (or any time slot you choose) does not mean you failed for the day! Simply make yourself a promise to fit it in later, when ever you find time. Even if you do 15 minutes of stretches before you go to bed, you are creating a new routine and simply the act of doing something helps to set that in motion. Anything is better than nothing, and don’t forget, if you do miss it today, there is always tomorrow.
It can be detrimental to your mindset if you are expecting to see changes overnight. Unfortunately nothing worth having comes that easy but we promise, when you stick it out those changes do happen. Start slow and work your way up and before you know it you notice you can run a little further, or pick up a heavier weight. A great way to stay on track it to set some small goals along the way, that build up to your main goal. These little goals give you the chance to celebrate the small wins and make the journey to success fun and full of positivity. Remember, even when it’s hard, everyone has to start somewhere!
Not everyone exercises the exact same way. Some people like to pump weights, some run, and some like to throw on an aerobic video and just follow along. Some prefer to join a class or hit the gym, and others like the peace and quiet of their own home. Whatever your style, find out what works for you because it is so much easier to stick to something you enjoy. It’s good to have a variety too, so make sure to mix it up. Run one day and do a strength routine another, or however you want to do it, but simply put, have fun.
If you are just getting started it can be hard to convince yourself to spend money, but having the right gear makes all the difference! Running in an old pair of sneakers can lead to injury and halt your progress, and not having those perfect fitting leggings can cause discomfort and frustration. Get gear that sets you up to be comfortable, feel confident and strong, and energize you while wearing it like Energy Pants® do, where we’ve inserted our special patented aluminum hemispheres at the body's energy meridians, bringing wellness and harmony to every workout. Invest in your success!
